Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
Naughty Dog and Sony found a keeper in Uncharted, Drake's Fortune,
so naturally they produced a sequel. Often gamers find sequels to be
disappointing, lacking the necessary improvements to gameplay and
story that would make a sequel successful. That is definitely not the case with
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, an action adventure that goes the extra
gaming mile.
In this game, the hero Nathan Drake makes a reappearance, as do
several of the first title's characters, including Elaine Fisher.
Drake is on another treasure hunt, searching for a fabled jewel of
enormous power, an item much sought after by bad guys as well as
good.
With witty dialogue and roguish charm, Drake and his
companions battle their way through enemies, obstacles, and exotic
locales to rescue humanity from the clutches of an evil warlord bent
on world domination.
The plot may seem overly familiar, but the
constant action, stunning visuals, engrossing cutscenes, and
well-developed characters help excel this storyline.
The gameplay of this title is not complicated, with easy to learn
controls and mostly smooth mechanics. The only downside is the
sometimes awkward cover system in confined spaces and some limiting
platform elements.
The cooperative mode is engaging, but the
competitive multiplayer is outstanding. The character's impressive
agility and awesome weaponry makes multiplayer a heart-pumping
experience. There is also a satisfying amount of achievements to be
earned as the game progresses.
Rated T for Teen due to blood, language, suggestive themes, and
violence, this title is not appropriate for the youngsters, but
will capture the imagination of older teen gamers.
With
adrenaline-inducing battle sequences, interesting platform and
puzzling elements, compelling multiplayer adventures, and fabulous
graphics, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is a beautifully crafted
adventure that will keep both casual and season gamers addicted for
a long time.
Pros:
- Fabulous graphics.
- Replayability factor strong.
- Multiplayer mode is especially exciting.
Cons:
- The cover system in confined spaces is sometimes awkward.
- Some limiting platform elements.
