Clifford
the Big Red Dog is as lovable as ever on the latest video
and DVD releases in the Scholastic series. Rock N' Roll
Clifford and Team Clifford! are available individually on
VHS or together on DVD.
In Rock
N' Roll Clifford!, the
dogs want to form a rock ’n’ roll band, and although it
initially seems challenging, they find a way to fit all the
dogs into the band in a meaningful way. In another episode,
Emily Elizabeth attempts to get a response to her fan mail.
In Stage Struck, Mary is getting stage fright preparing for
the talent show, but Clifford helps out by being her
friendly audience. Finally, Embarrassing Moments offers
viewers a solution to handling those inevitable awkward
moments in life.
Team
Clifford! features 4 episodes with sports/teamwork
themes. The world’s
greatest basketball player visits Birdwell Island and offers
everyone a lesson in teamwork. In another episode, Emily
Elizabeth worries that she is too short to be Clifford’s
friend. In Lucky Charm, Emily Elizabeth mistakenly puts her
confidence in her lucky charm, but when she loses it, she
learns that confidence comes from within. Finally,
a lesson about the joys of doing one’s best is offered in
The Great Race.
Rock N’
Roll Clifford! and Team Clifford! are available separately
on VHS, or together on one value-added DVD. Each contains 4
episodes.
The
stories in the Clifford series are tasteful and original.
There's plenty to like about the series! The characters are
well-developed and consistent, and the animation is lovely.
We like how the episodes begin with a book opening and end
with the book shutting.
The DVD
edition includes Clifford's Big Ideas with social
responsibility themes—animated shorts about different
themes (such as believing in yourself) as well as ideas for
parents to extend the themes at home.
Families
with DVD-ROM drives can pop the DVD into their computer and
kids can play one of the phonics activities in the computer
game, Clifford Phonics.
The DVD
contains the latest kid-friendly “pop-n-play” feature
from FHE, which allows kids to watch the DVD without using a
remote control.
